Becky Williams for Johnson County Clerk

Conservative & Experienced
I have served the citizens of Johnson County for the past 4 years in the County Clerk's office. I currently hold the position of Commissioner’s Court Clerk. My experience in the County Clerk's office includes working directly with the County Clerk and members of the Commissioner’s Court as well as the County Court-at-Law Judges on misdemeanor cases. I have been instrumental in placing Commissioner's Court records online for public access. The records are available to view on-line from 1971 to present. I am in the process of adding prior years at this time. It is my goal to add as many prior years as possible for public access. This is just one of the on-going projects of the Clerk's Office for greater public access.

I previously worked in the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office as a Legal Secretary for 14 years working directly with the District Attorney and 1st Assistant D.A.. During my tenure in the District Attorney’s Office, I worked on felony criminal cases, indictments, motions, jury charges, appeals, and was responsible for Criminal Justice Information System reporting to DPS for criminal histories. I also worked as a Legal Secretary in a private law firm in Cleburne.

I believe that my knowledge and experience has prepared me to serve as the next Johnson County Clerk. As County Clerk, I will provide a smooth transition by maintaining professionalism and integrity in the County Clerk's office. I understand the importance of the duties of the County Clerk to file, preserve and maintain all records of the Recording/Vital Statistic and Court Section. I will effectively utilize the staff and resources to provide an efficient operation. I will seek progressive and innovative ways of providing greater public service and access for all areas of Johnson County.

I am a life long resident of Johnson County and have lived in Cleburne, Rio Vista and Burleson. I am married to Donnie Williams and have 5 children and 5 grand children. We have been active members of the Calvary Baptist Church in Cleburne for over 26 years. We established the Awana children's ministry, currently lead the Auditorium Bible Class, and work with the senior citizens at Calvary. Our roots to Johnson County run deep, as my parents Earl and Estelle Doty are long time Johnson County residents. My dad served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean war and also worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 38 years. My mother was a seamstress in local dress shops in downtown Cleburne. During recent family history searches, I was able to locate my Great Great Grandfather's Civil War tombstone in Eastern Johnson County. Growing up in Johnson County, my parents taught me honesty, hard work and a love for people. My Father-in-Law, Morris Williams owned and worked at a gas station in Cleburne for over 50 years.

It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the citizens of Johnson County for almost 20 years and I look forward to serving as your next County Clerk. I am asking for your vote on March 2nd, 2010.
